A woman was fatally struck by a garbage truck in Wantagh Thursday, police say.
Police say they responded to a call for a pedestrian struck just before 10 a.m. on Wantagh Avenue and Laurel Lane.
Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wantagh Avenue southbound was shut down at Duck Pond Road and Southern State due to the incident.
Police say there is no criminality suspected at this time and an investigation is ongoing.
