Police are offering a reward to anyone who helps track down the driver who crashed into security gates at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club while fleeing officers.

Southampton Town police say one of their officers was trying to stop a car with Florida license plates but the driver took off, crashed into the gates at the golf course and then took off again.

Authorities say the incident happened on June 3.

They say the vehicle was found abandoned and burned on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation about a week later.

Police are offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
