Police across Long Island are making resources available to people without a home as weather conditions continue to dip into dangerously cold temperatures.
News 12 reporter Eileen Lehpamer rode along with Suffolk Police Officer Dave Rivera in an effort to find and help the homeless.
“We want to get everyone out of the cold and into a warm place,” says Rivera.
He says that their goal is get the homeless into shelter or refer them to the Department of Social Services as the cold snap grips Long Island.
Nassau officers are offering the same resources to the county’s homeless population.
Both counties have made warming centers available to anyone in need.
