A worker died Thursday when the grave he was working in collapsed on him at a Mount Sinai cemetery.
Police say Rodwin Allicock, of Coram, died while working at Washington Memorial Park. They say he was at the bottom of the grave, which was more than 7 feet deep, when it collapsed on him around 8:30 a.m.
Investigators say the 42-year-old's co-workers tried to dig him out but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There are still unanswered questions -- including how long Allicock was an employee there, what caused the collapse and if he was following all proper safety protocols at the time.
News 12 reached out to the cemetery for comment but was hung up on twice.
