Police say reports of a possible active shooter inside a Walmart store in Commack were false.
Officers responded to the store on Crooked Hill Road shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday after they received 911 calls about an active shooter.
Police say they determined that no shots were fired, and no weapons were involved. They say an investigation revealed that five men had staged and recorded video of an altercation in the store.
In the staged altercation, they said one man slapped another, and the sound of the slap "led some people to believe that a shot may have been fired."
Police say one of the males also screamed, "There is a gun."
No injuries were reported. Police say they're continuing to investigate the incident.
