Riverhead police say they arrested a man after he tried to get into the Splish Splash water park with a BB gun in his backpack.

Officers were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m.

At first, Splish Splash employees who were checking bags at the entrance thought it was a real gun. That's when they say the suspect, Shemari McKenzie, ran off.

He was found a short time later and arrested for obstructing government authority.
