A domestic dispute between brothers in Dix Hills turned violent on Monday, landing one in police custody and both of them in the hospital.
Police say the unidentified brothers, ages 30 and 32, got into a fight around 11 a.m. inside their Northwood Court home. They say the 30-year-old stabbed his older brother in the neck and at some point started a small fire in the basement. The Dix Hills Fire Department was able to douse the flames.
Police used a Taser on the 30-year-old before taking him into custody. He was taken to Huntington Hospital.
The stabbed brother was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The brothers' parents were home at the time. News 12 is told that the mother was hospitalized after suffering some sort of anxiety attack.
There's no word on what started the fight. Police have not yet identified the 30-year-old. They say it's unclear if he resisted arrest.
No charges have been filed at this point.
