A man riding a scooter was killed on Saturday night after being hit by a car in Hempstead.

Police say the 44-year-old was on Front Street just after 7 p.m. when a driver attempting to make a left onto Ingraham Boulevard struck him.

Authorities say the victim suffered severe trauma and was pronounced dead upon arriving at a hospital.
