Police say a man has been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs after he drove the wrong way and crashed into vehicles in Shirley.
According to police, Kevin Demartino was driving his car northbound in the southbound lanes of the William Floyd Parkway when he struck three cars. All of the cars were traveling southbound south of Flintlock Drive around 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Police say one of the drivers was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Two other drivers were also transported to the hospital where they were treated and released.
Demartino, 42, of Shirley, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.
Demartino was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and will be arraigned at a later date.
