An arrest has been made in the latest of several shootings in Bay Shore over the last few months.
Police arrested Kenny Walker, 20, for what they believe was a targeted shooting Saturday night in front of a Bay Shore home on Second Avenue. He has been charged with assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say the victim was standing in front of the house when a car pulled up and someone inside began shooting. They say the victim was hit and taken to the hospital but is expected to be OK.
As News 12 has reported, there were at least seven shootings in Bay Shore before Saturday's incident. Among them -- two men were hospitalized after a shooting on Callahan Street in January, a man was shot in the leg on Fourth Avenue in November and another incident on Second Avenue in September, where a 17-year-old girl was shot in a drive-by.
Police say extra patrols have been placed in the area following those shootings.
Authorities are also looking into whether or not Walker is part of a gang, and if he's responsible for shots that were fired last week on Princeton Street.
Walker is being held without bail and is due back in court Friday.
