A Long Beach man was charged with attempted murder Tuesday after allegedly making a bomb threat and then trying to grab a police officer's gun.

Nick Rastetter, 33, allegedly grabbed a Nassau police officer's gun Monday morning. According to court documents, Rastetter told the officer, "I'm going to kill you."

Police say the incident began outside the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park. The club's general manager Eric Strauss says an employee noticed a suspicious man outside the club around midnight while a wedding was wrapping up. 

"He was in a ski mask, Army fatigues, he had a duffel bag in front of him … so it was way out of the ordinary," says Strauss. "He said that he's going to blow up the place." 

Strauss told Rastetter to leave and then called police. 

Police say an officer caught up with Rastetter in Long Beach, where they say he wrestled with the officer and grabbed his gun before another officer stepped in. Police say he was subdued and taken into custody.

Authorities say the officer was taken to the hospital with a hand injury and is expected to make a full recovery. 

Rastetter faces several other charges including assault, resisting arrest and attempted robbery. Police say he has no criminal history in New York but was arrested once before in New Jersey on a shoplifting charge. He is being held without bail.
