A Patchogue apartment complex was locked down for several hours Monday as police engaged in a standoff with what they thought was a bank robbery suspect.
Authorities tracked the getaway car from a Blue Point North Fork Bank robbery to the Greenbriar Apartment Complex. All residents were asked to stay inside as SWAT teams and federal agents surrounded the building. Police were eventually able to secure a warrant to enter the apartment in question and the suspect was apprehended.
Police released the man after questioning him, but say he may have some knowledge of the robbery. The two bank robbers are still at large. Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
