(01/01/08) SOUTH FARMINGDALE ? A teen is in critical condition Tuesday after police say he was hit by a drunken driver.

According to police, 52-year-old Susan Deturris hit 14-year-old Michael Nicosia as he was riding his bike on Carmans Road in South Farmingdale around 9:30 Monday night. According to investigators, Nicosia landed on the hood of Deturris' car before smashing into the windshield.

Deturris is charged with vehicular assault and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Nicosia is listed in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center with extensive brain injuries. His family says he has been taken off life support and is breathing on his own. They are hoping he regains consciousness soon.
