Police say loaded guns and drugs were found in a 4-year-old boy's bedroom on Christmas Eve.
The boy's parents, 26-year-old Neil Ross-France and 24-year-old Dominica Kaisen, were arrested on charges of weapons and drug possession, as well as child endangerment.
Officials say the discovery was made Saturday in a unit at the Avalon Circle apartment complex in Nesconset.
They say Ross-France fired a gun toward the floor during an argument, and the bullet wound up in the neighbor's apartment below. No one was injured.
Detectives say an investigation uncovered a loaded handgun and shotgun, as well as cocaine, marijuana, drug scales and packing materials. The items were found stashed underneath the boy's bed, according to police.
The child is now in the custody of a relative. At their arraignment Monday, both Kaisen and Ross-France signed an order of protection to stay away from their own child.
Kaisen's family declined to comment at court, and would only say that she's a great mother.
