Shelter Island police announced the arrests of two teenagers for allegedly vandalizing a home on the island, with damages costing nearly $600,000.
Police say a second home nearby was also broken into.
It happened in April 2023 in the Silver Beach section of the island, on its southwest coast.
The two arrested teenagers have been identified as Joshua Capobianco and John Schuster. Both are 18 years old and from Sayville.
Three more suspects are being sought. Police have released a photo of those suspects, hoping the public can identify them.
Police say the photo was taken in the primary bedroom of one of the vandalized homes. The suspects are allegedly wearing clothing from the house.
An attorney for Capobianco says his client maintains his innocence. An attorney for Schuster did not immediately return News 12’s request for a comment.
Both defendants were released without having to post bail.
Anyone who recognizes the three suspects in the photo are asked to contact Shelter Island police.
