2h agoA Garden City Park man has been charged with impersonating a police officer, according to police.
Authorities tell News 12 the man tried to restrain a woman.
Police say Alif Chowdhury approached the woman on 4th Street in Garden City Park Thursday morning.
News 12 was told he flashed what appeared to be a badge, yelled at the woman and then stole her cellphone.
The victim ran and police say Chowdhury tried to stop her.
The 44-year-old was arrested a short time later.
