Police say dozens of teens had to be treated for alcohol poisoning and drug overdoses Wednesday night at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.
Police say there were more than 40 cases of drug and alcohol problems, mostly involving youths.
A total of 14 victims were taken to hospitals, and 40 had to be picked up by parents.
The incident happened at the Boys of Zummer Tour with Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa.
Parks Police PBA Director Troy Caupain told News 12 that the incidents could have been prevented if there was an adequate number of police to staff the event. He says more than 17 officers were assigned to the concert.
"Units were being taken and pulled from every direction, so it was very difficult to control this type of crowd," Caupain told News 12.
Police say alcohol was only sold in the VIP area during the show and not in the general admission area. They say most of the consumption took place in the theater's parking lot.
According to police, there were 58 aided cases with 16 ambulance transports when the same group performed at the Jones Beach Theater last year.
