Police: East End school districts received threatening emails; officers deployed to schools

Gov. Kathy Hochul said that over 50 school districts across New York received swatting threats on Tuesday.

Several schools in East Hampton are on high alert after receiving swatting threats overnight.
Town of East Hampton police say many East End school districts received a threatening email. They say the wording was similar to mass emails sent to other school districts across the state over the past week.
Police say uniformed officers were deployed to the schools and are monitoring intelligence.
Gov. Kathy Hochul said that over 50 school districts across New York received swatting threats on Tuesday.
She says she is directing the New York State Police to investigate these threats and work closely with local enforcement to find and prosecute those behind the threats.
