Officials are cracking down on ATV and dirt bike riders in one Long Island community.
The crackdown is being enforced by local, state and county police on people riding all-terrain vehicles in parks in the Town of Smithtown.
Homeowners who live near the parks complain of the damage and noise they produce, as well as the danger they pose in streets around the neighborhood.
Neighbors tell News 12 they are especially frustrated about how quickly the riders are able to get away from police, making it hard for them to be caught.
Police are now flooding the parks on ATVs themselves.
News 12 has learned 10 ATVs and dirt bikes were confiscated and 42 tickets were issued this weekend.
