A child is seriously injured after a house fire in Dix Hills, police say.
According to police, officers responded to the home after a volunteer firefighter saw 39-year-old Nicole Heller unconscious on the front lawn. Officers say Heller was having a medical emergency.
Officers saw smoke coming from the home and heard a child screaming upstairs. A 9-year-old was found with severe burns.
Both Heller and the child were taken to the hospital.
