The NTSB has released its preliminary report on why a plane leaving MacArthur Airport made an emergency landing on the Hudson River.
Investigators say the plane had lost total power. The report says the flight instructor took control of the plane when he noticed the engine's oil pressure gage showed zero.
Liam D'Arcy, 31 of Southampton, declared an emergency with air traffic control and asked to return to the airport.
The agency says they couldn't make it back because the engine began to run extremely rough and the plane lost total power.
D'Arcy and his student were treated for hypothermia after landing in the river.
