Police: Brooklyn boy with autism found wandering in Malverne

Police took the boy to the hospital and posted his picture on Facebook. People saw it, identified him and the child was returned to his family.

An 11-year-old Brooklyn boy with autism was found in Malverne Tuesday afternoon, police say
Andrew Burney was seen leaving his his school just before 12:30 p.m.
Malverne police say a good Samaritan found the boy on Ocean Avenue. They drove Burney to the nearest school, thinking he went there, but he did not.
Police then took the boy to the hospital and posted his picture on Facebook. People saw it, identified him and Burney was returned to his family.
The New York State Department of Education says the child got out of his school through an emergency exit.
