The body of a boater who went missing in the Great South Bay has been recovered.
Police say the body of Andrew Weis was recovered today at approximately 10:20 a.m. in the Great South Bay, about a half-mile south of Copiague Harbor.
Weis, 48, left Gilgo Beach Saturday evening in his 13-foot boat, but he never made it to the Anchorage Yacht Club in Lindenhurst.
News 12 got exclusive video of his inflatable dinghy being pulled out of the water Sunday morning at Venetian Shores Park in Lindenhurst.
The Coast Guard believes something hit Weis' boat based on damage to the vessel.
Detectives from the Major Case Unit are continuing the investigation and are asking anyone with information to call 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
