Suffolk police have arrested a pair of brothers from Queens for calling in a phony bomb threat to MacArthur Airport in January.
Authorities say Gurpreet Singh, 26, and his brother Amandeep, 24, made a phone call to the airport saying there would be a bomb on a plane the following day. Investigators say two one-way tickets had been purchased for the flight, which they say was a red flag. Police say one of those tickets belonged to the men?s sister, who was fleeing the area with her boyfriend to escape an arranged marriage. The brothers say they made the call in an effort to keep her from leaving.
Gurpreet and Amandeep are being charged with filing a false report, a misdemeanor. Police are not releasing the name of the sister, who has since managed to avoid the arranged marriage and married her boyfriend instead.
