Police say an Island Park man has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a boating accident that seriously injured a woman off Long Beach on Sunday.
Bennett M. Ragusa, 59, is accused of speeding in his cigarette-style boat and striking an 18-foot boat in a posted 5 mph zone in Reynolds Channel.
The cigarette boat's hull struck the woman, whose husband was the operater of the second boat. Police say she suffered head trauma and broken bones.
Matthew Scully, also of Island Park, says the impact knocked his wife unconscious and threw her forward.
Ragusa was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving serious physical injury and reckless endangerment. He was released with an appearance ticket.
