Police: 2 people arrested for stealing pocketbooks at several Suffolk grocery stores

Police caught up with the two suspects who were fleeing the crash scene and found several stolen purses.

Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing pocketbooks at grocery stores across Suffolk County.
Police tell News 12 Tariasha Smith and Robert Hengeveld were pulled over at a traffic stop Thursday.
After they showed the officers their IDs, police say they sped away and crashed into a tree on Peconic Avenue in Medford.
Police caught up with the two suspects who were fleeing the crash scene and found several stolen purses.
The stolen pocketbooks were from Meat Farms in Bohemia, ShopRite in Lake Ronkonkoma, ALDI and ShopRite in Patchogue, Stop and Shop in Holbrook and the Lidl in Oakdale, according to police.
The pair is facing a slew of charges.
