Police are searching for the gunman behind a shooting that killed a teen in Uniondale.
The shooting happened Friday night shortly before midnight on Walnut Street. Police say the 18-year-old victim was hanging out with friends near a street corner when they were approached by two suspects on bicycles.
One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the teen multiple times, investigators say. The bicyclists fled.
Police arrived to the scene to find the teen lying on the ground. He was taken to NUMC, where he was pronounced dead.
The teen's identity has not yet been released.
Police say they've been speaking with a group of teens who witnessed the shootings, and have also spoken with neighbors.
Residents in the community were shocked and saddened to hear of the gun violence in their normally quiet neighborhood.
