Police say an 18-year-old accused in a series of burglaries was caught in the ceiling of a Levittown CVS pharmacy.
Surveillance video from Nov. 12 inside the Dairy Mart on Division Avenue in Levittown shows a young man, his face covered, removing cash from the register.
Nassau police say 18-year-old Manuel Romero, of West Babylon, confessed to burglarizing the place on that day and on two other occasions, making off with $7,000 in cash, cigarettes and e-cigarettes.
Police say Romero confessed to those crimes early Wednesday morning when he was arrested for breaking into the CVS on Hempstead Turnpike, also in Levittown. Investigators say he got in through the pharmacy drive-thru window and took five bottles of cough medicine containing codeine.
The suspect was on his way out of the store when police say he noticed officers outside. They say he climbed into the ceiling to hide and that K-9s quickly sniffed him out.
CVS wouldn't allow News 12 inside with the cameras, but there were people working to repair the ceiling panels.
Romero is being charged with four counts of burglary.
