Police say a 16-year-old boy was arrested Saturday night for shooting a man in Bay Shore.

Officers say it happened in front of a home on Pine Acres Boulevard after 7 p.m.

They say 41-year-old Vincent Peredaviz, of Astoria, was attending a baby shower when two teenage girls started fighting on the front lawn.

Police say when Peredaviz attempted to break up the fight, a 16-year-old male shot Peredaviz in the leg with a handgun .

A witness wrestled the 16-year-old suspect to the ground, where officers say he was held until police were able to get there and take him into custody.

Peredaviz is being treated for serious injuries.

The teenager will head to youth court later today for assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
