A personal trainer in a New Hyde Park gym is charged with forcible touching after a female client said he touched her inappropriately.
Police said Mark Griffin was assisting the LA Fitness client with equipment from behind when he made improper contact with her. The woman said she thought it may have been unintentional until he told her he had to massage her after the workout.
Another personal trainer at LA Fitness told News 12 Long Island that company policy does not even allow trainers to stretch their clients.
Police say Griffin has a rap sheet dating back to 1984 that includes robbery and assault. He was on parole at the time of the incident and had been released from jail less than a year before.
Griffin was fired as a result of the complaint and charge. LA Fitness management said it had no comment on policy regarding background checks for employees.
