Police say a Federal Express delivery truck driver hit and killed a pedestrian Tuesday before slamming into a row of parked cars in Long Beach.
The victim has been identified as 50-year-old John Winters, of Point Lookout. Witnesses say Winters was trying to get into his pickup when the truck slammed into him. Police say he was thrown a substantial distance.
It's not clear why the driver lost control of the truck, but residents say East Park Avenue is a hot spot for reckless drivers.
Authorities say neither drugs nor alcohol appears to be involved in the crash.
