Paws & Pals: Dogs up for adoption at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter on Sept. 10

In this week's Paws & Pals, the town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter presented three dogs looking for their 'furever' homes.
Vanessa is a beautiful 3-year-old Husky mix that was pulled by the shelter from an overcrowded shelter in Georgia. Vanessa is a friendly, medium energy girl that lives for belly rubs, but can be cautious when meeting new people at first. Just a few minutes, and a few treats is all she needs! She knows her commands, enjoys leisurely walks on nature trails, and likes to relax and enjoy beautiful weather. She's not a typical Husky that needs a lot of exercise, but she does love the cool weather and will want to play! Vanessa would do best in a dog-experienced home without young children.
Velveteen is a 2-year-old Pointer mix. She was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Georgia, while pregnant! She safely gave birth to 10 puppies which have all since found loving homes, and now it is her turn. Velveteen is as sweet and soft as can be. Her favorite thing to do is to be petted and cuddled. She is very playful, and lives to soak up every scent on the ground. She enjoys the company of other dogs as long as they are well mannered.
Zane is a 5.5-year-old Terrier mix. Zane came to the shelter through its rescue program from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. Zane started off shy, but has blossomed into a fun, loving, and affectionate boy. He loves to go for walks, is quickly learning his commands, and is having a blast playing on the agility course. Zane loves the outdoors, but is happiest cuddling up next to you. Zane seems to be dog selective, so a meeting at the shelter is required with any other dogs in the house of potential adopters.
