Party City to receive new source of helium amid nationwide shortage
Party City has announced it is receiving a new source of helium, following the announcement of a nationwide helium shortage.
The party supply store says the source will provide for additional quantities beginning this summer and continuing for the next 2 and a half years.
The store believes the new source should substantially eliminate the shortfall it's experiencing and improve the ability to return to a normal level of latex and metallic balloon sales.
Meanwhile, the store says it is closing 45 locations in 2019. However, a spokesperson says the chain typically close 10 to 15 stores as part of its network optimization process. The party supply store says it decided to close more stores than usual in order to help optimize its market level performance and focus on the most profitable locations.
