Parents in Smithtown are concerned about a possible predator in the area after two children were approached in front of their house last Wednesday.
Police say 4-year-old Anthony Pertusiello and his 7-year-old sister Danielle were in their driveway when a black van stopped at their mailbox. Danielle says she became scared when a man got out of the vehicle and approached her, offering candy. She says she grabbed her brother and pulled him inside while screaming for her parents.
Letters were sent to parents of children at nearby Forest Brook and Pines elementary schools describing the incident and offering tips to keep their kids safe.
