(AP) - An appeals judge has issued a temporaryrestraining order in the weeklong battle for power of New York'sSenate. The ruling late Thursday afternoon by Appellate Division JusticeKaren Peters blocks Sen. Pedro Espada, one of the dissidentDemocrats elected Senate president on Monday, from being in line tosucceed the governor should the job be vacated. The order doesn'tappear to prohibit the coalition from controlling the Senate as itplans to do in regular session on Monday. A five-judge panel is scheduled to consider arguments Fridayafternoon on the issue of who controls the Senate. Democrats want to block any change in Senate leadership afterRepublicans and two rogue Democrats launched a power struggleMonday.
