Today is beautiful across the island, at least by January standards! Expect plenty of sunshine and high temperatures near 40 degrees. Temperatures remain above freezing overnight tonight and Saturday starts off quiet. That's the best part of the weekend. Although Saturday afternoon is mild, in the mid to upper 40s, it will be rainy. Sunday is dry to start, but snow showers are expected in the evening and a steady snow develops overnight. Two to 4 inches of snow are expected, but locally higher amounts are possible. Sunday's forecast may change over the course of the day as we get better model guidance. Check back for updates.
Behind Sunday's storm is bitter cold. Afternoon temperatures will stay in the teens on Tuesday and Wednesday and morning lows will drop into the single digits. It will be breezy with sub-zero wind chills expected. The cold starts to break next Thursday.
