Thunderbolt 12 is on the roads checking out conditions across Long Island as you get ready to head out the door this morning.
Snow is arriving early overnight and is expected to linger as the sun comes up.
The News 12 Storm Watch Team expects snow will transition to freezing rain by 9 a.m. followed by rain into the early afternoon.
Public Works crews have been out since Wednesday in both Nassau and Suffolk counties preparing plows and loading up trucks with salt. Crews were seen out early this morning salting local roads as the first flakes began to fall.
Be prepared to take it slower than usual with slick and icy spots, particularly on residential and local roads, expected.
