Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development have added more than 100 Bronx apartment buildings to a list of having the most severe housing code violations citywide.

The buildings will face increased scrutiny from the Alternative Enforcement Program, which allows officials to monitor repeat violators, conduct more inspections and push for repairs when property owners fail to do so.

The Bronx buildings make up nearly half of this year’s current list. The total of 205 account for almost 55,000 open housing violations and owe the city around $4.5 million for past emergency repairs.
