A pedestrian was struck and killed by a box truck Friday, police said.
Police identified the woman as Jenny Maribel Chancho Sanchez, 29, of Flushing.
Investigators say the accident happened just before 8:30 a.m. at Gates and Saint Nicholas avenues.
The NYPD's Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 49-year-old man was traveling on Saint Nicholas Avenue in a 2024 Freightliner box truck and making a left turn onto Gates Avenue when he struck Sanchez, who was crossing the roadway.
Investigators say the driver did leave the scene at first, but when police notified him of what happened, he came back.
There are so far no arrests in the ongoing investigation.
