The high winds toppled
trees and created problems for some drivers earlier today.
Officials say the wind is
likely to blame for bringing down a large tree in the middle of Main Street
that a woman crashed into in Setauket.
Police responded to the crash
around 3:30 a.m.
According to police, a
53-year-old Port Jefferson woman was driving a van near Harmony Lane when the vehicle
struck the large tree that had fallen across the roadway.
The woman was transported to
Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening.
