Middletown police say a resource officer was removed from his duties at the Twin Towers Middle School following an incident with a student on Thursday.
Police say the officer was attempting to calm an upset student during lunchtime when he took the student's cellphone and physically intervened.
District Superintendent Richard Del Moro tells News 12 this was a "minor incident,” but that any physical interaction involving students is frowned upon, unless absolutely necessary for student and staff safety.
Authorities say no charges will be filed in connection to the incident.
