Multiple swimmers were pulled from the ocean off Long Beach yesterday evening, according to video of the rescues given to News 12.
The video showed water rescue teams racing in a truck down the beach and then Jet Skis in the water moving the swimmers to safety.
Officials have not released any details, but the video shows multiple young people on the sand minutes later as first responders provided aid. At least one person was whisked off on a stretcher and into an ambulance.
The incident happened about an hour after lifeguards left for the day at Long Beach. Lifeguards are on duty during the week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the city.
The Atlantic Ocean was choppy yesterday with 3- to 4-foot waves and a moderate rip current risk.
News 12 reached out to the Long Beach Police Department, Long Beach Fire Department and city officials for more information but has not yet heard back.
There is another moderate rip current risk today, according to the National Weather Service.
