Officials: Man with revoked license crashed pickup truck into pool
A man who had his license revoked after a slew of DWI convictions was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that crashed into a car, two fences and a pool Sunday night, prosecutors say.
Police say the wild ride began when Andrew Zub, 40, collided with a car on Seamen's Neck Road in Levittown. According to prosecutors, he kept driving and crashed into one backyard fence, then another. The pickup truck then slammed into an above-ground pool, and that's when police say Zub fled on foot.
"I looked through my bedroom window, saw a pickup truck sitting in the middle of the pool," says witness Chris Hoebeler, of Levittown. "My son went to help the guy out. He told me to call 911 and the guy just got out of the truck and took off."
Zub was arrested at his home several hours later.
At his arraignment Monday, prosecutors said Zub has eight previous DWI convictions and that his license has been permanently revoked. Prosecutors also revealed that Zub was just released on parole from a DWI conviction last month.
Police say Zub circumvented use of an interlock device before going on the wild ride Sunday night. A source tells News 12 that Zub was driving his girlfriend's pickup truck.
Zub is now being held on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
No one answered the door for comment at Zub’s Levittown home Monday.
