A 22-year-old man was fatally struck by a Nassau County police vehicle in Wantagh Friday morning, officials say.

Detectives say the pedestrian was attempting to cross Wantagh Avenue at the intersection of Duck Pond Drive North when he was struck.

The victim suffered multiple injuries and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say two officers were also transported to hospitals for minor injuries.
