A firefighter in Brooklyn died Sunday night while responding to a crash on the Belt Parkway.
Firefighter Steven Pollard, 30, slipped through a gap in the roadway on the Belt Parkway near Flatbush Avenue, officials say.
He fell 52 feet to the area beneath the parkway.
Pollard started working as a firefighter a year and a half ago and was still on his probationary period.
His father and older brother were also firefighters.
