The Town of East Hampton says local fire departments descended on the scene just before 5 p.m. on the Napeague Stretch.
Officials say Montauk Highway is closed in both directions in Amagansett from Napeague Meadow Road to Bluff Road, with detours being utilized to and from Montauk.
Traffic is being rerouted at Napeague Meadow Road, Bluff Road and Abraham's Landing Road, according to officials.
