Nassau fire officials say one
person was injured in a small boiler explosion in
the basement of an office building next to North Shore
University Hospital.
The explosion
happened in the administration building on hospital grounds around 11:30 a.m.,
officials say.
One person suffered a minor injury
and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Manhasset-Lakeville Fire
Department responded to the scene, with a hazmat team checking air
quality in the building.
The building was
evacuated, but not the hospital .
Statement from Northwell Health:
A boiler malfunction took place at a non-clinical building
on the grounds of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset on Friday
morning. One person was treated for minor injuries and hospital operations have
not been impacted.
