A Nassau County police officer is recovering after getting hurt during a fight with a suspect.
Police say they detained Jose Rodriguez, 28, of Central Islip, for larceny by store security at the Wal-Mart in the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa.
According to police, when they arrived Rodriguez tried to leave with his wife and two young children. The move sparked a struggle, injuring the hand of one of the officers.
Police also say Rodriguez had a fake Social Security and immigration card on him.
