The NYPD is asking for the public’s help to find the man who they said assaulted and robbed a 39-year-old man in Concourse Village. It happened around 11 a.m. on Feb. 9 near Grand Concourse and East 161st Street. Police said the incident started when the victim and attacker got into an argument on an MTA bus. Then the attacker followed the victim off the bus. Investigators said the attacker robbed the 39-year-old man after punching him several times in the face, which caused him to fall to the ground. EMS treated the victim on the scene. The attacker ran off. Police said the attacker was last seen wearing a black coat, black and white sweatpants, white sneakers, and was carrying a black Nike bookbag. Bronx residents told News 12 on Saturday that hearing about the assault is not surprising. “It’s not really that safe,” said Angel Leon, of Claremont. “Sometimes I feel fine and sometimes I feel like you have somebody staring right at you. It’s really scary because you don’t know what they have, you don’t know what they can do to you. You’re just trying to get home.” “It’s regular at this point, especially here in the South Bronx,” said Matthew, of Mott Haven. “It’s regular, so I don’t expect anything less to be honest.” Anyone with information about the attacker is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
