The New York Police Department says it is disbanding its plainclothes anti-crime unit.
The unit, consisting of 600 officers, was a holdover from the department’s "stop-and-frisk" era. They have all been given new assignments.
Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch warns that shutting down the unit while crime is on the rise will force city leaders to deal with the consequences.
